History

Until 1307, there was no electricity power at the provincial and lighting was provided through traditional oil and oil utilization. The first 150 kilo watts diesel power generator was installed by (RIP) Falsafy et al. in Gorgan city in that year.

Then, electricity power was supplied by utilizing similar units in other cities which wasn’t enough for all consumers at all hours of the day and just provided the electricity for some hours. In the 20 decade, the presence of the private sector in the province's electricity industry activity became low, and in the meantime, the municipality was responsible for producing and distributing the electricity in their areas.

Modernization of power grids was done by installing more powerful generators in the 30 decade. This situation continued until the establishment of water supply department.

In 1343, clauses 1 and 3 (note "ه" and "و" ) of law on the establishment of ministry of water and electricity were executed, later it renamed to ministry of power, this statues of electricity companies rationally ratified and it was announced to the government. That Mazandaran and Golestan regional power companies started operating in 1345 with the formation of this company, the gradual delivery of electricity from cities to municipalities and private sector has started and significant changes have taken place in the electricity industry of that region.

In 1346, 30 KW main power line of Tehran-Gorgan was built and in 1347, 230/63 KW post was installed for Gorgan. In the same year63 KW line from Gonbad city (in Golestan province) to Noshahr (western part of Mazandaran) with a length of 37 likometers and along the road between cities was created. In all of these cities 63.20 KV transformer substantions were constructed and all of them were supplied with electricity.

Since 1346, Mazandaran and Golestan have joined the national network. Because of the climate conditions,, electricity was transferred to the villages of Golestan province, which was more suffisticated and faster than other part of  the country; and this was due to the close proximity of each other.

In 1349, 39 meters of distribution network and a transformer device with a power of 50 KW Amper was constructed in Ozine village in Gorgan city and following year with the construction of 6350 meters of power distribution network and the installation of a transformer device with a power of 160 KV in Valaghouz village (in Kordkouy city).

In 1357, the number of villages in the province grew up to 316 and in the year of company’s establishment (1376) it grew up to 896. Since 1371, power distribution companies had emerged due to new government policies that shrink the government and privatize some part of government activities.

Golestan electric power distribution company was separated from Mazandaran electricity distribution company after the establishment of the Golestan province in 26/9/76 and it has been officially launched since 1/1/77 and has been providing services to the costumers of province and exploitation of existing facilities and distribution networks and develop and optimize them.
